Phil has over 10 years’ experience of environmental management systems. Prior to working at Responsible Solutions he worked as a Project Environmental Manager for Sir Robert McAlpine. His experience there included writing Environmental Management Systems and ensuring they were effectively tailored to different projects. This approach has an ideal fit with Responsible Solutions’ ethos of providing bespoke services for clients. The preparation, review and maintenance of the company’s Environmental Management Systems included compiling Risk Assessments, Legislation Registers, Project Environmental Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and Environmental Method Statements. In addition he was responsible for noise & dust monitoring, production of environmental monthly reports and liaising with local residents and the local Councils’ Environmental Health Officer.
Since joining Responsible Solutions Phil has been involved in a variety of projects including development of environmental management systems for a number of clients, including an additional OHSAS 18001 management system; a major research project into packaging waste within the construction sector; training material for the Supply Chain Sustainability School and technical support work for the CEEQUAL Scheme. His experience in responsible sourcing has involved him in research on the topic including, understanding the range of different schemes available and specific research on human rights issues.
Phil holds a BSc Degree in Geography at Loughborough University which included looking at Water Resource Management, Environmental Pollution and Biogeography. Phil also holds Practioner level membership with the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (PIEMA).
